Must read books by female authors in 2021

So here are timeless classics that are our topmost must read books by female authors, books that will captivate both veterans and novices, books that have forged new paths and challenged perceptions.

Find out what you should read next!

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen:

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice has captured hearts far and wide, often referred to as the novel of manners, it is unarguably one of the most famous books of all time. It is a witty narration of the social constructs and how superficial attributes are valued more. It traces the heart-warming journey of Mr.Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet as they overcome their demons and surrender to their love.

There is also a motion picture based on the same name of the book. But as we all know, movies are like single page extracts of an entire novel.

2. Small Sacrifices, Ann Rule

This classic is a non-fiction story of a woman, Elizabeth Diane Downs, who shot her kids. A horrifying tale of past and present to send chills down your spine every time you turn a page. We bet that the lingering feeling of empathy for the kids mentioned in the book won’t leave even when you’ve completed the book. Therefore, out of all the fictions mentioned above, this non-fiction will surely steal away your heart with a mesmerizing journey through sadness, hurt, mentality, grief, sympathy, and triumph.

3. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott:

All people, young and old, have been enamoured by the tale of the four March sisters. Jo is a writer and keeps everyone entertained by her words. Meg is the beautiful one – an actress, the one capturing everyone’s attention and holding the family together. Amy is a painter, she’s bold and fierce and holds light out for everyone while she’s in darkness. Beth is a pianist, a cheerleader, and the sweetest of all. Make sure to pick up Little Women and discover their journeys and the bond of the sisters. Little Women is available on various free sources and also on Kindle.

Watch and pray, dear, never get tired of trying, and never think it is impossible to conquer your fault.

4. Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell:

Gone with the wind is unbearably sad and yet so engrossing. The protagonist Scarlett O’Hara must overcome all of her shortcomings to find a way out of the quicksand of poverty. Margaret Mitchell’s bold depiction of the war-torn country and the struggles of racism are remarkable to behold. It takes courage to put forward the faults of her protagonist and weave them together in growth.

After all, tomorrow is another day!

5. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte:

Originally published under the pseudonym ‘Ellis Bell’, it is Emily’s only finished novel. Wuthering Heights is a novel many hate and a novel many love. It is the story of two families bound by relationships and fate. The story of Catherine and Heathcliff who fall in love. It is a tale of family ties, love, revenge and loss and revolves around how it affects everything around them. Can be accessed on Kindle if procuring a paperback is difficult.

“It was not the thorn bending to the honeysuckles, but the honeysuckles embracing the thorn.”

6. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte:

Published under the pseudonym ‘Currer Bell’, Jane Eyre is a Bildungsroman and is a much-adored novel since it was inked. Jane Eyre often regarded as the novel that revolutionised prose fiction. It is an account of Jane Eyre’s, the protagonist’s growth and development, and her love Mr.Rochester, the master of Thornfield Hall and her employer. Written in soft lines that touch you, it is a beautiful read.

I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself.”

7. And then there were none, Agatha Christie

Just for the reader’s information, Agatha Christie has been one of the finest authors when it came to writing thrillers. She has undoubtedly proven this in her every word, but here is one of my favourite works of her. The story finely begins with ten people being called on a remote island and being killed one after another. Who was the murderer? what was the motive? How is the crime uncovered? Who is saved? Each page will push you into an adventure and keep you hooked. One of the finest book that you can’t keep down!

8.  Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank:

Set in dire circumstances of death and uncertainty, Anne Frank’s words are a beckon of hope and perseverance. Written in the diary that she received as a present on her 13th birthday, addressed as ‘Dear Kitty, Anne Frank recounts the struggles of their life in hiding. The fears that each little sound creates and her continuous hope of a better tomorrow. It is a must-read if you want to reaffirm your beliefs of change!

Anne Frank wrote the diary entirely while she was hiding during the Jewish Holocaust and her book is the description of the harsh reality and traumatizing views she had to accept. Moreover, Anne Frank’s diary was the evidence of the hope she preserved in her heart and the contradicting circumstances that were crushing her hope. It is a collection of events that she witnessed over two years before succumbing of a disease in a concentration camp at a mere age of 15.

Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.”

With this, we complete our list of must read books by female authors in 2021. All the books recommended will surely hold you captivated for days, a cycle of after-thought and rumination, and the final detachment till you pick it back again and it all comes afore. Happy Reading!

I have heard excellent things about blogengine.net.
